A&R Carpet Cleaning ("A&R," "we," "us," or "our") is a locally-owned cleaning business based in Cranston, Calgary, Alberta. Protecting your personal information is important to us. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

01 Information we collect

We collect only the personal information reasonably needed to schedule and deliver cleaning services, respond to inquiries, and meet our legal obligations.

Information you give us

  • Contact details: name, phone number, email address.
  • Service details: property address, type of service requested, room count, problem areas, access instructions.
  • Messages: any notes or questions you include when you contact us or fill out the booking form.

Information collected automatically

  • Basic analytics: pages viewed, approximate country, browser type — aggregated and anonymized.
  • Essential cookies: session state and theme preference (see Cookies below).

Information from third parties

If you message us through our Facebook page, Meta provides your name and message contents to us as part of delivering the message.

02 How we use your information

  • To schedule, confirm, and deliver the cleaning service you book.
  • To contact you about quotes, appointments, and follow-ups.
  • To process payment at the time of service.
  • To honour our satisfaction guarantee and warranty periods.
  • To improve our website, service quality, and scheduling.
  • To comply with legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations in Canada.
We do notsell, rent, or trade your personal information. We don't run advertising or retargeting pixels on our site, and we don't email you marketing unless you explicitly opt in.

03 Cookies

Our website uses a minimal set of cookies. You can block or delete them in your browser settings without losing access to any booking or contact feature.

  • Essential — theme preference (arcarpet-theme): stores your light/dark choice so the site doesn't flash on reload.
  • Anonymous analytics: aggregated page-view stats only; no personal tracking, no cross-site profiling.

04 How we share information

We only share your information when it's necessary to deliver our services or when required by law:

  • With our team: technicians receive the address and job details they need to complete the service.
  • With service providers: we use Formspree to process booking-form submissions; they handle the data on our behalf under their own privacy policy.
  • Facebook embeds: if you interact with Facebook posts or videos embedded on our site, Meta collects data according to its own policies.
  • Legal process: if compelled by a Canadian court order, subpoena, or similar legal demand.

05 How long we keep information

  • Booking records: up to 2 years after the most recent service, so we can honour follow-up or warranty requests.
  • Tax and billing records: 7 years, as required by the Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Marketing opt-in lists: until you unsubscribe.
  • Website analytics: aggregated, no personal identifiers retained long-term.

When a retention period expires, we either securely delete the information or fully anonymize it.

06 Your rights

Under PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Withdraw consent for processing, where consent is the legal basis.
  • Request deletion of your information (subject to legal retention minimums).
  • File a complaint if you believe your privacy rights have been violated.

07 Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access:

  • All form submissions travel over HTTPS.
  • Access to customer records is limited to staff who need it to do their job.
  • We don't store credit card numbers on our servers — payments are handled at the point of service.

No system is 100% secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as required by Canadian law.

08 Third-party services we use

  • Formspree — processes booking-form submissions and forwards them to us.
  • Meta (Facebook) — we embed posts and videos from our Facebook page; Meta's own policies apply to those embeds.
  • Anonymous analytics — aggregated page views only; no ad tech, no personal tracking.

09 Children's privacy

Our services and website are intended for adults booking on behalf of themselves or their property. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our services or legal requirements change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced on the site.
